On April 23rd, Simmons University’s London Center for Community Engagement and Social Justice honored our Nurtury Learning Lab with their Outstanding Community Partner Award at their End of the Year Showcase and Ceremony.

This award recognizes our sustained partnership with Simmons University through the Jumpstart program, which allows us to welcome Simmons students into our preschool classrooms each week at our Nurtury Learning Lab in Jamaica Plain.

These Jumpstart members implement oral language strategies with our early learners through small group readings and literacy activities. They also prepare educational materials that children and families can engage in together at home.

Our Learning Lab’s Program Director, Finda Leno, accepted the award alongside the Simmons Jumpstart team. Our Assistant Director of Early Learning Centers, Kathy Lindsay, also attended the celebratory event and serves as Nurtury’s liaison with Jumpstart.
