Boston EQUIP Releases BQI 2013 Report
On March 12, 2014, Boston EQUIP, an Associated project, released the Boston Quality Inventory (BQI) 2013. The BQI provides a picture of the current quality of family child care homes and center-based programs serving infants, toddlers and preschoolers throughout the city.
This report, conducted by a team of researchers led by Dr. Nancy Marshall of the Work, Families and Children Research Group at the Wellesley Centers for Women, provides critical information to help Boston policymakers, service providers, and funders assess city-wide progress on the Thrive in 5 School Readiness Roadmap.
Positive Parenting Workshop Graduation
A group of eight parents recently graduated Associated and JP Family Engagement Network's joint Positive Parenting Workshop, an eight-week series that focuses on important parenting topics such as: understanding temperament and development, positive discipline, establishing routines, knowing your child, and school success.
The graduation honored the parents and facilitator Pam Bailey from Families First. "There's a lot of programs for before the child is born, but not a lot for when they're really in the parenting stages," said Bailey. "Providing family and parent workshops is important. Day-to-day life is stressful, and workshops provide a place for parents to come together and talk about life."
